it is probably because you are not used to those people and you don't know what to talk about!! next time those people are having a conversation, try and join in and say what you think about whatever they are talking about?!

Try to say more when people ask you something, if you are like my son you get a yes or a no to a question. I told him to do this and it helped him.
Imagine the conversation is a ball someone starts up the conversation and throws the ball to someone else they say something and throw the ball on.
If you think about it you rarely remember what was said normally only the topic you chatted about be it a pop group or an actress you all like.
One of my son's only has a few close friends and that suits him fine, my other son is outgoing and has lots of people he talks to but no real close friends which is how he prefers it.
Confidence is something you have to work at, see if they have any groups like drama at school, pretending to be someone else helps a lot of people. A lot of actresses are quite shy people they enjoy pretending to be someone else.
Kate Bush is a very shy person, she makes albums and puts them out for her fans to buy but doesn't do tours.
I am sure there are lots of things you are good at let them shine through and people will see the real you.
I hope this helps. :-)

14 years young is the reason why. I am 40 and still am shy in the company of a few people. Otherwise I am really confident. Best is not to worry and make an issue about it. Keep a few close friends and don't worry about what the whole world thinks about you. Avoid gangs. And join a drama group or anything else that interests you and lets you practise your communications skills.
Lecture over!

Don't worry your not alone in being shy. I was shy too. What helped me is when I was around people and found myself going quiet, I would force myself to participate in what ever they were doing. At first it felt awkward and funny, but after doing it several times, I can now say I find that my shyness is gone. There are times I find I want to go quiet still, but that is when I just force myself to participate. Maybe this will help you!

self talk is your best option, continuely tell yourself how great you are, how much fun you are to be around how pretty you are, that you have some really important things to say. Things like that. Shyness is a lack of self-confidence within yourself. You have a lot to offer the world, hold your head high and let others see just how great you really are.

Most people your age are shy,it`s nothing to be embarrassed about.Try getting to know a person, ask questions, tell jokes or maybe tell them a funny story that you heard. You never know they might be just as shy as you,you just need to relax, enjoy yourself and get in on the conversation.......Good luck.

i used to be shy too .. but the only way to overcome shyness is to be confident about yourself & not put too much attention to what people think of you.. this might sound easy, but it takes a while to do... but i started doing this & it actually works!
just take your time and be confident..
good luck!

You would always feel comfortable around a group of people you know very well. So try to know people better.

when i was your age i was the same way, you have to actually push yourself and stand up for yourself...learn in yourself to be confident... it takes hard work, but after a few times of speaking out....you will be more confident...
