As long as it stays dry (never store it on concrete) the fertilizer will last 3-4 years. If there are other things in the fertilizer, like weed killer or bug killer, the shelf life can go down to 2-3 years.

If it is older than 5 years make sure you dispose of it in a responsible manner. Most communities have a day when they will take old chemicals and dispose of them properly.
