Well it depends on how much she likes him and whether she knows about your feelings towards the guy. If you really like the guy, and he is worth it, i suggest you bring it up with your friend in conversation. It is really complicated if you haven't previously told her how you feel about him.
In any case, I do think it is best to inform your friend and see her reaction. If she is a true friend, it wouldn't bother her that much as she should be happy for you. If you "follow your heart" and do not tell her, I assume it might break the trust between you guys and she would feel resentful.
If you feel she is sadened by what youve told her, as a best friend I would not go out with the person as the friendship is more important. It is extremely hard to find a good friend these days and if you feel you guys are that close, then its best to avoid problems.

Tell your girlfriend up front the facts of the situation. He called you and has asked you out. See what her reaction is. She may not care at all. Or she may not like the idea. Then, the final decision is yours. The "safe" thing to do is to turn him down if it is important to you to not hurt your girlfriends feelings. On the other hand, she is not engaged to be married to this guy .. right ? .. and at your age, it is a time to explore new friends and potential relationships. So you may want to go out with him and see where it leads. My best guess is that he will go out with both of you .. he wants to see for himself who he feels he matches up with better. After you both go out with him a few times, it should become more clear who would prefer to be his friend.. and who would make a better girlfriend to the guy. Good luck ! :)

The simple fact that you even consider going out with him says to me that she really isn't your "best" friend. A best friend would have said no on the spot. You will learn that guys come and go but a best friend stays for the long haul.

Speak to your friend about what happened. Be open and tell her your interested in him as well. Then base your decision on her reaction or opinion of the scenario. That is what a best friend would and should do

tell her you have had a crush on him too and he asked you out. If she is a true friend she will understand. If not, hey, you needed a new best friend anyway, make it him.

Is she is your true friend you should be asking this question from her not a bunch of strangers here. Besides, its just a date. You are yet to see if its going to get anything serious.

Talk to her about it. Girl friends will always stick around longer than boyfriends. So if you want to keep her friendship explain it to her. I know she is going to feel bad, but you didn't ask him out, he ask you.
Good luck honey this is a really hard place to be.

No stay away from him, at the end of the day there are plenty of guys out there, don't do that to your friend... My friend did that with my ex, she just blanked our friendship for him, we are back mates ten years later, but id never forget what she did. if you value you friendship stay away from him, even if she says shes OK with it,,, she really ain't,,,
