Any time between 4 to 6 months. At this stage, if your baby does not feel full after his/her milk feeds, then it's a good time to start off with the rice cereals. You can try giving one or 2 spoonfuls at a time. If your baby doesn't take it after several trys over a period of 3 days or so, chances are he or she is not ready yet. There is no rush to start your baby on solids.

When the baby shows you they're ready. Usually around 4-6 months old, sometimes older. When they're getting 32 oz of formula a day and not filled up on it. Then start with a small amount of cereal - any kind is fine, but do one at a time and make sure it's the ONLY new thing in their world (no new soap or laundry detergent, etc.) for a minimum of 3-4 days to check for allergies. (If the baby has an allergic reaction, it'll be easier to pinpoint what it's to.) As the baby gets teeth, you can give more and different textures of foods as they're ready.

How do you tell if your baby is ready to be introduced to solids?
First, your child must be at least four to six months old according to the advice of most pediatricians. If you start too soon, several problems may occur. For one, a baby’s digestive system is not yet mature enough to properly break down solid foods until they reach this stage. Other problems that may occur are allergic reactions, growth may slow due to lack of protein obtained from breast milk or an iron rich formula, they may gain too much weight too soon and will most likely drink less milk or iron-rich formula because they are too full.
Remember that every child develops differently. Your child may not be ready until they are a year old. This is perfectly natural and often recommended because a mother’s breast milk or an iron rich formula provides a baby with the proper amount of nutrition during their first year of life. A child will not sleep better as a result of introducing cereal before bedtime, by the way. This is a myth and often why children are started on solids too soon.

6 months. (If at all! Baby cereal is pretty disgusting!)
Readiness to digest cereal has NOTHING TO DO with the baby's weight. It's more developmental. A baby doesn't have the enzymes present in his/her tummy to DIGEST cereal until around 6 months of age.
Babies don't need teeth to start mushy solids.
Starting earlier than 6 mos can put your child at risk for allergies, asthma, diabetes and obesity.

That depends on the baby. I didn't until six months because of allergy problems in my family. Some people put cereal in the milk bottle after a month.

We never fed our children baby cereal. I think the use of such products is, like the use of formula, causes a huge increase in the risk of diabetes and of allergies. Plus, you're crowding out the human milk, which is a living tissue vital to the baby's brain development and physical and emotional health.
Our babies nursed exclusively until they were ready for "grown-up" food. They indicated that readiness by wanting it, reaching for it, being curious about it. One is not supposed to feed a baby anything but mommy's milk for the first 6 months at least - and we went 9 months. Our kids are remarkably healthy, with only 3 courses of antibiotic use ever between the two of them.

World Health Organisation recommends to exclusively breast/bottle feed until 6 months, then introduce solids after this when the baby's digestive system is more mature. The risk of allergy is decreased by waiting. Unfortunately baby food companies put 4-6months on their packaging, but the longer you leave solids, the better.

I think it depends on the baby and how filling the formula is to them. my first child started cereal at 4 weeks and my second didn't start cereal until 3 months old.

Depend on the weight of your baby, at birth! If your baby is of normal weight or less;about 3months old should be safe? But just a little bit, due to any defects in your baby's intestines.Or constipation, the cereal may cause. If your baby is a newborn and colic like, you may have to talk with the doctor about changing your babies formula to soy. Both my kids got major gas pains from their first trial run with formula. I was soo tired back then and put cereal in my daughter's bottle so she would sleep!(family advise) It just caused her more pain.Be so careful of advise your family gives you, because they may be very out dated for today's parenting, which is normal!! good luck and I hope this helps!!

I waited till my daughter was 6 months old. She did well at that age. My friend gave her son cereal at 4 months old. He was an extremely hungry baby. He gobbled it up. I think it just depends upon the child.
