your mother is an angel !! you want to meet the mother from Hell ? Meet mine! She used to lock me in a closet as a child for punishment, starve me and stick her fingers down my throat to make me vomit! Weigh me 8 times a day. And thats just a taste of her abuse,if u r under age and have no where to go,you have to do what she says but once you are over age you can do what ever you want its not a sensible thing to do to leave home over a piercing or hair dye just wait it out what else can you do I couldnt wait to turn 18 and get away from my mother! Good luck!

She obviously does not hate you, because she does not want you to mar yourself. Have you thought about what tattoos and piercings are really all about, let alone unnatural hair color? One very big thing they are all about is being intentionally unacceptable for a wide variety of jobs, being unavailable to the better men, etc. It is to declare yourself counter-culture.
Now, I understand the allure of being in with the out-crowd. I was a hippie myself, and in some ways still am. But a hippie chick could "go straight" just by putting on the appropriate clothes and getting her hair done. A hippie guy could "go straight" by getting a haircut and a shave, and wearing the appropriate clothes. How does someone with obvious piercings, perhaps distended ear lobes, tattoos in places people can see, and bright purple hair "go straight"? They don't, that's why they do it.
But the counterculture is not economically viable for very many people, so it is a lot like condemning yourself to poverty, unless you are a very talented musician. Scratch that: it isn't talent they want, it is compliance with the industry's standards. For a girl, that basically means being sluttish.
So take your mom's advice and don't do anything that puts you out of the running for a successful career and a good marriage. She doesn't hate you; she's protecting you from your own whims.

If you are still living with your parents, it really doesn't make sense for you to do something that would upset your mother so much. As some of the other answers have pointed out, you can do whatever you want, and nobody can stop you. But you need to be aware of the consequences. Your mother has fairly warned you that she will make your life hell if you get a tattoo. As long as you live with her, she has the power to make good on that promise. So just chill. Don't get the tattoo yet. Wait until you are out of the house. You really have to pick your fights when it comes to parents, and this is one where you should back down. It's not worth it.
If you are already out of the house, do what you want.

Well, while you live under her roof you should abide by her rules. Don't worry, you will grow up and get your own place one day and then you can do what ever you want.
Tell her also, that you can't judge a book by it's cover, but wait till you move out to do that. It can cause too many problems.
