i've had loads while i was growing up, especially when close family members or friends died...i have a knowing feeling, or something strange happens like, when my best friend died last year, on the night before his death i saw a flash vision of a man (i dont believe in ghosts! I'm a christian) then the same time the next night, i felt a presence which i couldnt shake, i felt a strong desire to cry. i knew someone had died but it was late so i didnt want to wake my parents up by calling, the tuesday i heard my best friend had died at a young age... i dont like getting premonitions, but if i tell someone about them, they usually seem to not be enacted?? unless its a really vivid and gripping one, where i feel like the wind is being knocked out of my sails (figuratively).

JamesMonroe - it has become stronger and more 'bridled' in time. I've tried to consciously nurture it because i was at first scared witless by the idea of feeling horrible things when all i want to do is get on with my own life...the only time i tried to consciously control it was when i had premonitions about a serial killer in south africa (where i'm from originally) and the one Sunday when I prayed for him to be caught, he was! I got a "punch" in the stomach effect when in the paper the next day, a female detective who also has a great degree of premonitions, was revered for having caught him. She said she gets premonitions and that day she felt led straight to the guy, well i can tell you this, i was praying the sunday afternoon around 2ish, that the police be led to him...now, that really freaked me out. His name was Azfal, he stalked and strangled / sodomized young boys in Cape Town, South AFrica.

specsy - well, i dunno about ghosts and stuff, my take on the concept was that they were bad spirits...in fact i never truly had a stance on them however, that Friday b4 my best friend died, i was alone at home, was at the kettle in the kitchen about to make a cuppa when a flash appeared in my peripheral vision, i turned to look and saw enough in that second to remember the colours purple shirt and brown trousers, dark hair, slim guy, just standing there, there was no time to say or do anything, i blinked and the vision was gone, i sat down opposite the hallway and stared lamely as if willing the vision to return so that i could ask some questions. I used to have problems as a kid and young adult sleeping in the dark...but on this occasion i knew this presence wasnt a threat to me in any way.

There's a lot we don't know and don't understand. Premonitions happen all the time - I think they just come from a part of our minds that we don't understand yet. I think it may be the case that we have some kind of mental connection with people we care about and so can have glimpses of things happening to them, but that doesn't explain premonitions of events that don't involve people we love, but strangers. I suppose it could be that we might pick up some kind of "mental radio waves" even from very distant places, and even from people we don't know. I remember after a catastrophe a few years ago that was in the news a lot, feeling very much affected, as if I were personally experiencing the fear and grief so many people were going through.
By the way, lots of Christians KNOW from personal experience that ghosts definitely exist. Denying it doesn't stop it being so.

Neat! You possess some kind of a Second Power although not so detailed.
I have a common premonition, too. It just comes everytime. I purchase a lottery ticket then in the evening, I just feel I'm not going to win... until the draw date comes, the feeling becomes stronger that I'm not really going to win. It just comes true. Some loser in lottery, huh? LMAO! :P
Just kidding.

whoa!! i can tell you it is inherited, my mom passed it on to me. my X was preg. w / our son. i worked nights, that morning in the truck i prayed to GOD that he would have a good memory, blonde hair, blue eyes like her, and be a boy,(healthy is a given).i FELT !!,not in parentheses either, a presence, i saw a figure in the passenger side out of the corner of my eyes, I FREAKED!!turned but they were gone of course,i knew my prayers were answered because of a very peaceful sense inside my heart, although not a practicing christian then, i did believe!(do still, MORE) i didn't say anything to maxine, did say it was going to be a boy (we did it the old fasion way, wait and see) showered, bedded down. as a rule i would a see her off early when she went to appointments and then crash again. this morning i was OUT.
i got up and went in the living room, cut on the weather channel as usu. to see how to dress, it was awacky climate that year. i thought,"sure is dark", opened the door, the driveway was new and very white, BLINDED me (brite lite brite lite), sat down and just then a heard the truck pull up, looked out the door saw the back of the truck and d/door open, looked back at the tube, suddenly the door opened, she was standing in the threshhold silhouetted, IT WAS SO BRIGHT BEHIND HER i couldn't look at her. she said how did you know? know what? it was going to be a boy. i just did . thank you JESUS!!!!! i thought . WOKE UP IN A COOOOLD SWEAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FELT / SEEN A,YES,SPIRIT LEAVE THE ROOM OUT THE DOOR. MAN I WAS SCARED!! i jumped to the side of the bed feet on the floor, going to get who was in the house (ref., can't catch spirits that don't won't to be) i was shaking, confused, where' s max? what am i doing in bed? why aren't i watching tv? what just happened? dear GOD am i loosing my mind? sat there. like clock work all i related earlier repeated it self while i was living it, MAJOR DEJA VUE.
OR WHAT EVER YOU CALL IT . the only thing is, in my conscience state i tried to break the sequence of events. i went to make a sandwich for work, A VOICE TOLD ME I WAS NOT HUNGRY GO SIT DOWN .I OBEYED!! I WILLCALL IT DEVINE INTERVENTION.i never told max, she wouldn't reiceive it well.
i do believe in 1 ghost, He is a very holy 1
all i told you is true, it is also like when i would think of a good friend, and as i picked up the phone he would be on it to me already, just like that, or it would ring...............
i believe it is the part of the brain we don't understand, we'll need it though, for all the knowledge given to us on the ascent!!
storage for the language / praise songs of heaven.

I had a dream that i went to my friends house. I walked in to the kitchen to find her sat at her table with a cup of tea. She proceeded to tell me she was pregnant.
I went round there the next day and it happened. Exactly as I had dreamt. I like to think its because we were so close.

there are several, the first is when i was nine. my parents and my brothers and i were coming home from a family friends' house and i got a very strange feeling inside and blurted out "baby is dead" (baby was our pet gerbil). everyone in the car got mad at me and told me to stop the nonsense, when we got home i went to baby's cage and he was dead. when i was seventeen i had a great friend named dara, we were very close, i went to bed one night and kept waking up in cold sweats and my first thought was, " i have to call dara tomorrow". when i woke up i was telling my mother about my night and wanting to call dara when the phone rang and it was dara's father calling telling me she had died. there are more but it would take so long to explain them in such a limited space. i don't think i am psychic or anything but sometimes i find these "feelings" that pop up out of nowhere very disturbing.

Ummm...... I get "intuitions" often & have since childhood.
My husband calls me "witchy"...
A friend of the family told us he was going to be a father...
The pregnancy was just medically confirmed & a due date was given. I instantly had one of my intuitions"... So, I told him it was a girl & she would be born 3 weeks past due on my birthday....
It was a girl...& yes...she was born on my birthday.
Sure... there are a lot of other things... some good... some bad...
But, isn't that the way life goes?

I don't believe in premonitions but I do believe in sixth sense which can be defined as "sum of all senses combined together which can detect a minutest change in surroundings which ordinary senses cannot detect individually".
