the only purpose fo the wall is decorative. I will not use cvement and to thee degree i will use possible local stones found in my backyard.

Unless you want a lot of snakes and small rodents in your yard, a stone wall is not necessarily a good idea.

I love rustic stone walls and I don't mind the chippies and other critters one bit, i love the idea of backyard habitat and they don't hurt me. Just fit them together, as long as you arent making it high. If you are then go to lowes.com or another diy website (bob villa's?) I think you might have to use a cement mix between the rocks if it is higher than two and a half feet-three feet tall... good luck, hope it comes out nice.
