I want to re upholster my boat seats. The old seats had some kind of thin clear plastic material over the foam. I need to know what this was, were to buy some and how I should use it. I assume it was to protect the foam from water saturation. I am kind of thinking that it should go on top of the foam but be open at the bottom for ventilation if moisture should happen to get to the foam anyway.

It just Upholstery. When you take the Seats apart you will see how this done. Very easy with a hand held staple gun. Use the old plastic as a pattern if it usable, if not shoot from the hip. Check the wood for rot and replace with treated and use the old for your pattern also. Good Luck.
