Colleges (in the US) have an optional summer break. Most people do not take classes in the summer but most colleges offer them. I took some to make sure I graduated on time.
Labor Day is off
Some give Columbus Day off
Some colleges have a fall break- usually over Columbus day weekend, that can be upto 5 days off
Most if not all have Thanksgiving off - usually the wed before until Sunday (sometimes monday after).
Fall semesters usually end in mid December giving anywhere from 2 weeks to a month off during the holidays.
My college went back right after new years, but some start back mid January.
Martin Luther King Day is off
President's Day is Off
Usually in mid/late March you will have spring break which is 1 whole week off.
Easter usually means another short break (unless they plan your spring break then). We had Thur/Fri/Mon off for Easter.
Then the semester ends anywhere from the end of April until Mid May.
Ready to start all over again.
=)
(and if you schedule your classes all on MWF or all on TTH you have the other days off every week.)

Yes they do, a little less than in high school(depending on which college, some colleges even start the school year in August). But there is always a month long winter vacation! Very convenient! And I think a longer Spring break. For me, high school has only like 4 days Spring break and only like a week of winter, so not fair. I'm a senior now, so I can't wait til college!

Most US colleges have a short break between Spring and Summer sessions and a longer break between Summer and Fall sessions. I'm pretty sure all colleges have a 2-4 week break around Christmas and most have a week break in March or April (spring break or a break between Winter and Spring sessions).

Yes they have summer, winter and spring breaks. However there is a larger percentage of students who take classes in the summer just so that they can finish their degree earlier than if they take the summer off. Also, some universities require students to do at least 2 semesters worth of summer classes before allowing a student to graduate.

Colleges have summer break from regular fall and spring semesters, but summer classes are usually available if students need them. Typically, holiday breaks are given as well, like Christmas, Easter, and Thanksgiving. Also, Spring break is in March/April.

it depends on the college.
Some have quarters, some have semesters, and yes - some have trimesters.
There is even one school that I know of that has semesters with an 6-week winter break - and you can take one class during that break if you want to - or you can head to colorado to go skiing.
Check into the schools you are interested to see whats offered.

Of course, If they didn't then college would be like going to work. A week off for winter and that's it. haha. But they do have Summer break, if they didn't there would be no time to visit family and stuff.

Yes, Easter, Winter, Summer(unless your taking summer courses :(, ) My college has religious days off, Mass of Holy Spirit, we have thanksgiving and Labor day. Small day in October, and spring recess.
Winter break is like a month off :)
It all depends on what college you go to, each college has a different set of days off.

Most colleges have spring break and the summer off. The exception is coop where you're working hard for the (piddly) money in between school terms.
