if it is painful, you have a temp elevation, swollen nodes in the neck on that side, pockets of discharge on the tonsil, it's likely tonsillitis. If not, and it's not new, might be a normal variant.

Go to the doctor because you might have an infection. Your tonsils are red, swollen and sore. It is hard to swallow, and you might have a stuffy nose. Your ears can hurt since the swollen tonsils press on the nerves of the ears. You may lose your appetite or be nauseous. You can run a fever.

If it hurts, go to the doctor. Spray it with Cepastat spray. If you tonsil on the left has always been larger, then don't worry unless you have a sore throat.

can tell you how mine was.
Always started - when i swallowed, it was sore in my throat.
certain times of the year, especially season changes.
Swollen tonsils, and you feel terrible.
Don't wait too long if it worries you often, it is worse for an adult to have them removed.
Mine was removed at the age of 42 - not nice...
They also poison your body if they are left too long , and all the antibiotics are bad for you.

It is painful. There will be dysphagia...i.e difficulty in swallowing and you have a bad taste in the mouth..dysguesia and also foul breath...halitosis.If there are symptoms then it suggests they are infected otherwise just dont go by the size.
