just want to find out if a friends property is under forcloser

You can look up property records (deeds, deeds of trust, foreclosure notices, etc.) at your County Recorder's Office. It may be called something else in your state.

Sheriff's Sales (foreclosures) are generally posted somewhere in the courthouse. Also, there are several on-line resources, just check in your area. Finally, call a local real estate agent, they will usually have the listings too.

There may be a source of published notices of foreclosures in your community. If so, look there. If not,l go to the clerk of the court where foreclosures are filed and you will find an index (probably on a computer) listing foreclosure filings by name.

Try the legal classifieds in your newspaper.

Go online to your city, town or state tax records or at the court house. These are all public records.
