I've done it several times. It's not hard at all - it can even be a little exciting, and some people will even think you are "brave" for doing so.

The biggest deal is of course choosing the place to move - but for this we'll assume that you've already got a spot in mind. Depending on how much time you've got before you go, if you have any control over that, there are things you can do to know the place better before you get there.

Subscribe to the local paper - that'll give you a feel for the place. You'll be able to see if crime is a real problem, get a feel for what the locals think of their city government, maybe learn which parts of town you might not want to find a home in. Newspapers are good for just getting a feel for the community - is it mostly upbeat and positive, or full of recrimination and negatives? That will also let you see the homes for sale, rentals, and the job market if you're interested.

Contact a realtor in that area. It doesn't matter whether you plan to rent, buy, or browse, realtors can be a great deal of help in learning about the dynamics of the communities there. They might even be able to send you a local phone book, which is an outstanding way to see what sort of businesses there are.

Getting in touch with the chamber of commerce will often get you maps, coupons for local businesses, and other helpful stuff.

I've made moves like this several times, and it isn't hard. Some I've taken months to plan beforehand, and others I've just "gone and done it." LOL.

Buying rather than renting can complicate things and extend the time it takes to plan. You might choose to rent until you know the city better and decide where you'd best like to purchase a home.

If you're young or on limited funds, then just rent a truck for your stuff (many offer a month of storage space at the destination), and go. There are cheap motels that can be rented by the week and provide a base while you job hunt and look for an apartment. They may not be the greatest places to live, but they'll do while you find something better.

It isn't hard; it can be exciting. All the new people, the new sights to see - look at it as an adventure, and conquer it!

I did this about 6 months ago. I moved from NJ to Pa.I'm still adjusting. I have a job that pays me 1/4 of what I was making!! That makes it very difficult. I've been trying to find a new job. I planned for months, probably almost a year in the works. Are you planning on moving to a different state? Do you have to or want to?

Let's see I have moved 4 different times to states I never lived in. The first time I didn't plan at all...just went. All the other times I planned and saved. I didn't think it was hard...more of an adventure really.

Movers clean out your closets and get rid of a few thing that you do not extremely choose and could basically finally end up in storage. It prices a lot to pass stuff so seem into, is it nicely worth it to take it with you or ought to that is more cheap to go away it in the back of and replace? Banks, charge playing cards, lenders, submit place of work, prefer to draw close your new address. you'd be needing a clean motive force's license and new registration. motor vehicle coverage. college. activity. Voter Registration. locate the position the position you'd be voting. Church.

Yep...I moved with my husband from Cali to Tennesse. We came up with the idea in Feb moved in april. I have never lived in Tennessee. It was hard to think about. I prayed about it and felt at peace about the move. It was sad leaving everyone I knew except hubby. It made it easier that we had a year retreatment rights to go back to our old jobs, so there was always the option to go back. I cried the first day I got here and then it was okay from there! Now we have got 1 friend, 1 silbling, and 2 parents that have followed us out here!

I moved to Florida from Michigan for a few years. I loved it but I was homesick and found that I actually missed being stuck in a blizzard and that I missed swimming in a lake that doesn't have alligators in it. It was good to come back home.

I'm 14 and it's not that bad, don't worry!

Good Luck!

Many times. If you don't have friends there it could get rather boring at first. It's always hard leaving what you know.
