This is my first time trying these from seed and it was a lot of time and effort. 20 original seeds only produced four melon so I don't want to pick them early by accident. These are not the large size melons, They are a smaller variety.

Look for the creamy yellow patch on the underside of the melon where it rests on the ground. If it is still white, the melon is not fully ripe. When it turns a creamy yellow color, it is ready to pick.

Good luck with your gardening.

If they are the ones that I am thinking of they will turn a fairly dark green. Also, if you know what I mean you can lightly smack them with your fingers, the dull/ low thud will mean they are ripe.
If you are still not sure just watch for when they seem to stop growing, shortly thereafter they will be ripe. Don't wait too long or they start to get that funky taste.
