My son is currently teething and has this rash on his chin and face. He also has been diagnosed with ecsema. Is it the rash that is associated with his teething and/or is it ecsema. Also, what can I use to help make the problem go away?

the rash is also on his upper cheeks, drool almost never goes that high. Could it be both teething and his ecsema??

This rash is from his eczema.Anything that touches his face(drool, blanket) is making it break out.I know this because my 14 mth old has had eczema since he was born. What i do is use a plain soap (cvs brand)you can use it wet or dry as a moisturizer. The only thing i put on his face and body is Eucerin lotion this really helps though it does'nt make it go away.It only goes away when it is'nt being irritated.I also don't put blankets in his crib because they irritate his face so bad.Hope i helped.

Kids get red cheeks when they are teething and it looks like exema, but excema is usually another dry skin condition. Both conditions together would make for one very uncomfortable little guy!

I am surprised the doctor didn't recommend or prescribe a cream for the excema as there are many prescription creams containing zinc that appear to help, but as soon as you stop using them, the rash comes back.

You don't mention what your background is, but basically, the darker the skin, the more likely vulnerable to excema. Dark skin in northern climates equals dryness, which leads to irritation. So it is important to have some vaseline and other thick creams around for the winter no matter what.

To treat the rash, I would use Calendula Nappy (Diaper) Change Cream made by Weleda. It works miracles on baby's bottoms , teething rashes and every other kind of rash. Really. I've used it myself on completely unrelated rashes and yesterday, some friends confessed that they use it all the time too.

the rash is from teething....all that drool...irritant! "To help prevent this, gently wipe drool perodically during the daytime, and place a towel under the crib sheet to absorb the excess while your baby sleeps. Should a patch of dry skin appear, keep it well lubricated with a mild skin cream (ask the doctor for a recommendation)."

My son had that for awhile. It is caused by drooling. He has eczema. I use Aquaphor (healing ointment for cracked, irritated skin) also Eucerin ( just the same as Aquaphor). The are thick tecture which is good because it will heal quicker. It works great. And odorless. Do not use Baby Aveeno or any kind of scent. It will irritate the skin more. Hope this helps.

The rash should be examined by a pediatrician. There's also things like strep throat that can appear as a rash. You should take him today to a pediatrician.

it might be his saliva...he's gettin those teeth and he's drooling a lot more. If he has eczema, try something thats specially formulated for that, or maybe look into some Baby Aveeno.

i would ask the doctor. it may be associated with the ecsema but it could also be an allergic reaction to a new food or formula
