The type with the slatted slide-up doors have been in use for quite some time. I remember seeing one on my grandmother's cabinet as far back as I can remember. I am in my 40's, and grandmother passed away a few days short of turning 100.
Good luck!

well.... im sure they are still made to this day..... just not as much as way back when,,,,,.i would say early to mid 1900s would be the time they started to make a shift to metal,,,, the 50s maybe?.... and the 80s saw the oncoming flow of plastics and fibers.... if not the 70s , quite possibly.
