I have not tried Tai Chi Chuan, a Taoist system of exercise and martial arts, as distinguished from Shao Lin, the Buddhist style. It is said to keep one flexible and to massage internal organs. I practice more Hard Styles, but I might practice Tai Chi Chuan when I am old. I see may people doing it in Chinatown (San Francisco) parks in the mornings.

Chi, I believe has to do with fluid flow. Tai Chi or any form of breathing/exercise increases fluid flow - water, blood etc in the body. This is akin to changing engine oil in cars. It can only improve both the condition of the pipes, tubes etc and lubricate the engine.

I sometimes practice tai chi tai bun, the ninjutsu version of tai chi.
not only does it improve your health it also relaxes and focuses the mind, very benificial in such a fast moving and stressful society.

yes, this is a very good way to start relaxing the mind and letting the body flow into a mode of its own. although i started this way found there were other ways to exercise and meditate which were better for me personally. but everyone has to discover the best way for them

I don't practice it, but if it helps the mind it will ultimately help the physical body. Medical science is even convinced these days that the mind and body are inextricably linked.

It is the easiest way to focus on your own well being, especially if you are not fit enough for yoga.
