It is best that you do something you enjoy - I take it you are not keen on English.

You need to answer the following questions of your self:

(1) What would I enjoy most - list five jobs (best to least favourite).

(2) Would I be happy doing a job I like but not being paid much money for it?

- you need to consider that as a low wage earner you may not be able to rent or buy very nice accommodation on your own. You may not be able to afford the best clothes, or a nice car, etc...
- You may want a rich husband.

(3) Would I be happy doing a job that pays well, but isn't greatly interesting to me?
- Consider whether lifestyle is important to you. If it is you need the money to pay for it.

(4) can't you find a job that interests you and pays well?

Then you need to research the jobs a bit more.

Do you actually know what a beautician does all day? Is it nice or are some of the customers rude, does the boss treat you well, etc.

What does an accountant do? Did you know they get to meet a lot of people, and have opportunuites to work abroad?

Do you know what an Actuary is - they use maths but get paid even more than accountants!

Could you be an accountant for say 10 years, save up some money, then use that money (and business experience) to open your own beautique? Could you afford to do this any other way?

See, lots to think about!

Good luck

ok I have merely performed my GCSE's and that i'm beginning my A-stages in 2 weeks. initially once you recognize you've upcoming exams, initiate revising EARLY, so that you've about per week or 2 earlier the exams to maintain going many times your revision notes. I did this for Chemistry, Biology and Physics and that i have been given 2 A*'s and an A and that i do not evaluate myself quite wise. also, listen in college, heavily do not play round and then imagine to your self you could examine a textbook at domicile and capture up, it heavily isn't as efficient. So specially merely be organised and do each and every thing early :)

I hope you chosen some IT (ICT it is called nowadays?) along with your other GCSE if you're good at Maths chances are you will get on all right with the computers too - and theres more money in it and easier to do (including spell checkers ;-) ) Don't decide what you want to do just yet, easier to wait until you're 19 and you've seen more of what is possible. Ask about doing graphics on the computer I don't know what the course is called but it leads into website design and thats loadsa money too. Keep the hairdressing as a pocket money or Saturday job.

Do what you enjoy / what your good at. Get a good mix of the two. Unfortunately there is no GCSE course in hair dressnig so i think that maths may be a good idea :)

PS - i wouldnt try to think too hard about what you want to do yet - ytou have plently of time to decide that later - and hair dressing isnt something that you combine with school subjects - but you could still make a good amount of money from it .... accounting isnt an amazing field to work in - and it wont keep you very happy

Ive just finished my GCSEs and got good gradesim now goin to 6th Form and i still dont have a clue what i want to do so i wouldnt worry but its a good idea to think about it early. My advice is not to go into Beauty Therapy of hairdressing unless you really want to though cos so many people are doing that now Be a doctor.

Hi,

If you aren't sure what you want to do career wise it's best to keep your options open with the GCSEs you do....employers and colleges like to see Science on your CV so going for a double Science would be good...you would need that for beauty anyway...Maths and English are compulsory so work hard at them. I think you should concentrate on your studies and having fun, you have plenty of time to figure out what you want to do....good luck with your choices xxx

hmm..gcse's give u a range of subs so dont limit ur self to the 2 optionsyet
i took 10 subs and it gave me a good outlook on wht i really wanted to do later on
depending on how many u are willing/have to take
i did 2 sciences, 3 langs, math, communication, computing, hist, business studies and...omg i cant remember >.< hahah well..shows how much i paid attention
but yea..

its gcse's dont limit urself
give urself a good mix of everything so u could always have the option of changing later on
take accounting for a sub thou if ur serious about accounting. communications (design tech) would be good for interior designer along with physics (apparently)

but in the end its up to u
go where life leads ya :D

cheers

Why not do both then you can always run your own business.
Be warned though, I have a friend who is a fully trained hairdresser and she gets paid more working in Waitrose.

I'm starting mine soon, well when u go to collage they will tell you all about what your choices are etc...and they will tell you the benefits of jobs what you would like to do, so just tell them what u want to be...like u said a beautician...then they will give you suggestions on what to do and what qualifications you need etc...
