some say shyness is a result of genetics and others a disorder. There is nothing wrong with being shy because you just have a different way of approaching things. For me I consider myself shy when I have not much to say but if you get me talking on a subject that I find interesting man I could talk all day. The thing is that if you get to the point where you let your shyness control you thats when your crossing the line. There are so many celebrities out there who are shy but don't allow shyness to hold them back from life. When you talk to people try hard not to think about how you sound just make comments and say how you feel and it will naturally flow.

I was very shy when l was young, and looking back now think of all the opportunities l missed getting to know people better(girls inparticular that l liked). My suggestion is just tackle the problem head on. If there is someone you like, wait until they are preferablely alone and say hi. Tell them you would like to get to know a little about them and see what happens. Sure, the odd person may make you feel uncomfortable, but you may be suprised by others. Good luck. Sieze the day.

I'm still trying to figure it out. and i'm 18....
what helped me was really meeting new people in school. It starts with just asking for help or complaining about a teacher and it gets easier from there.
I still have trouble talking to people that i haven't know too long but the hardest part is meeting them for the first time. It's really good to have a friend with you that understands you so that she can fill in the awkward silences but not take over too much that you are forgotten.
I use to tell myself that worse things could have happened or that they probably already forgot whenever i do something weird or awkward.
just remember that no one has the right to judge you 'cause no one really knows who you are or what you go through.
Its good to not care what other people think which is hard to do, but something that is do-able. Give short answers when you first start stepping out of your comfort zone. I noticed that when I would talk longer my voice would start shaking and quivering.
Good luck! You aren't alone and I hope that I was able to help even a little! :)

Dont be too hard on yourself, sometimes shyness is all about lack of confidence, or even having the idea that everyone else is more important than you, but it's not true...just keep putting yourself out there, and build on your confidence soon you will notice you feel more comfortable around a group of people.

hi! im also shy too i know its hard.. like you want to say something but you can't imagine yourself saying it because people are use to you not saying anything. I would say go for it and say anything thats on your mind, once people get to know you better I guess you will feel comfortable and confident,, its the only way all of us shy people will enjoy life much better. :) Life is too short to hold anything back. Just enjoy.. I'm still learning to open up..goodluck !

Know that everyone goes through this at some point in their life. Just pick up your head look others in the eye, speak to them. Most people will answer you, if they don't move on to the next. Keep trying find someone that interests you, share your knowledge. You just need to try, you can do it. You will feel scared at first, it gets easier, you can do it.

I liked the walk naked answer, but since it's socially unacceptable, I'd say maybe join toastmasters or a hobby club if you have a hobby.

Just get out there. Force yourself to say hi to someone that you don't know and converse.
