Philosophy 101--

If a (hypothetical) Universe contains an immovable object, that Universe CANNOT, by definition, also be home to an irresistible force (God). The definitions of the words preclude the existence of both together. One, or the other, would fail, and therefore not be describable as either "unmovable" or "irresistible"

Why would He want to?

But to answer your question, I think it depends on the form He takes to try to lift the rock. After all, He is a Spirit, and not bound by the laws of matter as we are.

Jesus was both fully divine AND fully human, and I'm sure He could not physically lift many of the boulders on earth that God had created. He would not be fully human if He could have done that.

So the answer is yes, God can create a rock He cannot lift (depending on the form He takes).

Well since he is all powerful he can lift anything, and since he is God he can make anything, since that is basically a stand-off question I assume you want every-ones personal opinion. I think he is so powerful that he would not waste his time in doing such things. I think he is all powerful so he would not waste in creating a rock that he can not lift.

The problem is an old one, in fact. Are their limits to the omnipotent? If there are, then we are not dealing with omnipotence. Accordingly, God should be able to create a rock which he cannot lift. Yet, in doing so, he creates another limit, ending his claim to omnipotency. Hence, God is not omnipotent. There are even rules he must follow.

It is important that we tolerate dissenting views whatever they may be so I support the interlocutor fully. If one is to really have faith then he should have the type of faith that actually cares to examine the riddles that are part of conceptualizing a deity. I am trying to find a quotation in Les Miserables where Voltaire says something to the effect that athiests by obeying that sagacity in themselves that forces them naturally to examine truth in all of its facets often get led here and there inconsistently but, according to Hugo, they are more alligned with god that believers of a creed--and this comes from a man who had a ot of faith in Christianity and the Catholic Church

The only thing that GOD cannot do is lie anything else is childs play. God can speak to the face of the waters and they will listen.
It is only when it come to man that God has the problem men refuse to believe even when they see the face of the waters obay him.

Good question. Coz If we say yes then god is not so powerul to lift a rock that is made by him & if no then he cant even create such rock. (We can ossibly say he doesn't want to create such rock lol ;-) ) But i'll prefer tht he can create such rock. If he cant lift none can do but that doesnt imply he is less powerful...

Right now, God is shaking His head at you incredulously. Rocks don't matter. Souls do. Why waste His power and wisdom on a parlor trick?

I like that question. It shows the inherent irrationality of the assumption of an all powerful god
