My roommate (also female) has been getting very playful recently, but I am afraid to respond because I am not sure if it won't complicate our living situation. This isn't a great romance, but is it a good idea?

Every relationship is different. Only you and your roommate can decide if it is right for the 2 of you. It does work for my g/f and I though.

Not unless you like packing boxes. Have a heart to heart with her and tell her that you make it a practice to never mix roommates and romance. Be prepared to have her leave or ask you to leave, she may already be too over the line.

If you both feel the same, are on the same page, and know that neither will have a problem if the other gets serious about someone else, hey, why not? If it gets tilted, someone usually slides out of the house. So talk first.

Nothing wrong with being playful and responding to your roommate's playfullness unless you feel something other than friendship for her which would cause u to feel guilty later on.

If you both are on the same page and understand the situation, it could be lots of fun. No need for everything to be so complicated.

Depends, if she is a best friend, I would Advise NO. You live together, If it don't work out, who moves because on will surely go.
If you like her back, then tell her that if we date, we get separate apartments.
Odds are though, you will lose a friend if you do.

It depends how close you and your housemate are. If you are both honest from the start and let eachother know you don't want it to ruin your friendship.

if it will enhance your friendship yes. if it will depreciate your friendship, no, but you can't make an omelette without cracking eggs, and life is not a rehearsal.
