And why do men marry women and do the same thing? And likewise, women telling men they love THEM and trot off with someone new?
Words, while powerful, are just that: words. Love to him may mean something completely different to what you think it means. Anyway, words are meaningless unless backed up with some kind of action. The next time a guy says "I love you", see what he means by what he does afterward. Maybe he meant "I love you, but only for the next thirty seconds" or perhaps he meant "I love you, because if I say I do, maybe you'll sleep with me".
Realize that even if he is the right guy, it takes time for any relationship to deepen. In any case, learn not to give your heart away to just any guy who says "I love you".

Some guys are 'in love' with the idea of being in love. When the right one comes along they can see it. Some guys just use that phrase like they are handing out candy. I can only imagine that it is because they do not want to end up alone. So they bounce around from girl to girl until they find what they think will make them happy. Still others only use that phrase to get someone into bed.

Girl....don't overgeneralize men. I think what we are talking about is an individual problem. Some men may have their character defects. Some men are more able to be honest to themselves & others...some can resist temptations while some cheat without remorse. So, don't blame men but that ONE MAN only. But a lot of man don't know how to say NO even they are GROWN. They would rather lose an arm than to tell you that they don't like you, well but they will defend for themselves that they have a kind heart.

That happened to me too many times, I eventually decided to succumb to what I always wanted anyway and now, uh, "bat for the other side".
Men are complex and I truly believe they say things so as not to hurt us gals. Or they love lots of gals at the same time.
Or maybe this guy was a jerk.

The answer is very simple.Men that do that don't love you! Men that love you, don't do that.
He's done you a favour, he's left a space for the right guy to come along.Rejection hurts but a bad relationship hurts a lot more..I wish you all the best, you deserve it!
