You would be better of springing for a domain name it's like less than 10 bucks a year and you own the name. A good company is http://www.godaddy.com if you need hosting they also offer hosting. I use them but I also have my own server.

There are a few sites that offer free domains, but I would stay away from them, you have to jump through plenty of hoops, participating in forums to build up points (which could take days), signing up for free-offers (spam alert!).
Its just not worth the trouble when you can buy domains for as little as ~$8 from Godaddy.com for $1.99 from Yahoo if you host with them.
You gotta ask yourself, is your time worth $8?
