Raise vehicle and check all steering and suspension components and repair the ones that are loose. Ball joints, tie rods, idler arms, wheel bearings and the steering gear box are all parts that can contribute to a loose feel in your steering.Begin with a thorough inspection.

You know I had a pathfinder yesterday at the shop and I thought the rear suspension was broken the wander was that bad no weird noises however. WHAT it turned out to be over 65 psi in the tires that were installed by some one with a malfunctioning tire pressure Gage. I work for Nissan and lately people bring in cars with max pressure there excuse it says 50 psi on the tire? that tire spec is max weight pressure not manufactures recommended pressure which is almost always between 28 and 36 psi

Sounds to be either steering gear play, tie rod ends worn, low tire pressure, worn shock absorbers, many possibilities, start by mechanical inspection of front steering and suspension.

try installing a steering dampner if you don't have one already, play with your tire pressures, have your suspension checked for loose parts , have the alignment checked, you didn't do anything foolish like increase the tire size did you , that could have changed the scrub angle and or the toe , or worse did have your jeep lifted.

It sounds like you're in desperate need of a wheel alignment.
