Most of the games have referee and in cricket umpire and of course there is a match referee in every cricket game. The final decision of the game should take the referee, and the umpire is just a controller of the game

in cricket refree is person who watch the whole match and send his report about the match.referee has the power to fine a player but on the other hand umpire is a person who submit his report about the match to referee.so the both men have their different jobs.one more thing i want to say that an umpire can not go to the icc directly but areferee can go to the icc directly.so it is not right to say that umpires and referee have same work to do.

The difference between Umpires and referees in cricket is that to be selected as umpire one has to successfully umdergo umpires training, whereas referees are selected from ex-cricketeting players who had excellent carreer in cricket. While umpires supervise and monitor the matches in the field, referee watches the match on T.V. Monitor in the pavillion. In case umpire has any doubt he can refer the matter to referee who takes decision on such doubtful issues.
