what could help me sleep without me becoming dependent on it?

Melatonin. It's a natural supplement that you can get over the counter :)

I don't think things such as Tylenol PM or whatever are that addictive though, are they?

There are a few prescription medications your doctor can prescribe you or you can try just plain Benadryl or any of the over the counter PM medications such as Tylenol PM. Use caution, they may not become physically addictive but can become mentally addictive.

i took ambein for a while and i'll never do it again/// they are bad,bad,and bad my sleep pattern was in such bad shape i'd go as many as 4 days w/o sleep and when did sleep it was just a couple of hrs if i was luck but mosrly 30 min at a time /// it was hard getting off them but i just grit me teeth and i'm off them and do not ever to take another sleeping pill ---they are highly addictive--and downright dangerous--

Exercising in the morning or evening can help you have a more restful night. It may take a week to see improvement, but even 20 min a day will help.
