It's not as bad as it seems. You will need a tune up/plugs etc, and depending on how much you put in your tank it will need to be drained (if over half a tank) but if it's just a few gallons, add gas to it and it will work it's way out, at the most another set of plugs. Total cost under $250

Well it sounds like you are in the UK somewhere, so I can't give you pricing because everything seems to cost double in the UK.

As far as "damage" is concerned, the catalytic converter (if it has one--not sure about euro environmental standards) is probably cooked. You will need a new one. The EGR valve may be very dirty. The plugs will need to be changed, maybe more than once. The fuel injection system needs to be flushed completely, including the tank. Then it needs to be run. It will still be smokey for a while, then they need to do the converter, check the EGR, and change the plugs. If the combustion chambers are really coked (lots of black hard carbon deposits) that's bad. Hopefully it wasn't driven long enough for that. They can stick an optical scope inside the plug hole and inspect inside.

I estimate a 4 hour job maybe, at probably 90 euros per hour???? Add 30 euros (???) of parts. Good luck.

What's weird is in America, a diesel fuel nozzle usually won't fit into an unleaded tank neck. Hmmmmmm.

You didn't do any damage...

You will have to have the tank drained and fuel lines
it could take a mechanic acouple hours to do all this.

Your looking at around 100.00 I would think for this
All they have to do is jack the car high and unhook the fuel line and turn the key on for the pump to drain the fuel into a gas can or something

No big deal just time consuming

You section-spoke back your self: if the nozzle would not in positive condition properley, then that's the incorrect gasoline. once you placed the incorrect gasoline in, then you definitely won't continuously observe promptly away because of the fact which you will use up your suitable petrol that's already interior the gadget earlier the diesel comes by using. I made the different errors final 3 hundred and sixty 5 days with my Chrysler, by risk putting in in basic terms over a million [76423d8352c9e8fc8d7d65f62c55eae976423d8352c9e8fc8d7d65f62c55eae9] gallon of petrol. such as you, my tank became in basic terms approximately empty, yet I have been given away with it by ability of topping the automobile up with diesel earlier I even left the forecourt. Over right here, putting diesel into petrol vehicles was once straightforward earlier diverse-length nozzles have been presented, yet maximum folk in basic terms lived with some days of heavy white smoke till it burned by using. by the way, pumps are marked: The Label "DERV" is an abbreviation for 'Diesel-Engined street automobile'.

go get a battery powered syphon pump and some containers for fuel.
you can syphon the fuel out yourself and then you will need to replace the spark plugs and gas.
I would suggest also using the highest octane gas and then adding a fuel additive to help clear the carb/injectors out.
