THIS SO CALLED WAR ON TERROR.
Only when we follow the money can we begin to realize that we are being used!
TERRORISM is in FACT a highly successful business it benefits investors on both sides of the Atlantic ocean...there is in fact no need to end it; in these investors eyes...you keep it going!
I hope the average American will see this when they step into the voting booth in November

Well first of all Husein wasn't hiding in the way bin laden is and I think hes a bit smarter than Husein .I do not understand how he supposedly can make videos etc and cant be located..But then again you may be right ,with him"captured" there's no reason for Bush's war. After all our American president is obsessed with war and needs to keep the right wing war mongers fired up by having an elusive foe.I fully support our military but do not support Bush and his war.The 2008 elections can not come soon enough for me.I love my country but I am embarrassed by his actions and the fact that he has made the presidency of America the laughing stock to the world.

I also agree totally with MarkD from above .You are correct.

Some reasons.

1. Terrain. Waziristan, where bin Laden is believed to be holed up, is some of the roughest terrain on earth. The elevation is very high as well, being the foothills of the Himalayas. Our troops have to adapt to that kind of environment. On the other hand, Iraq is at sea level, and the terrain poses few challenges to the military.

2. Popularity. Saddam Hussein was not a well-liked man, and there was no shortage of people willing to sell him out. Bin Laden, however, is popular in Pakistan and among some in Afghanistan.

3. Necessity. While there were still elements of the regime in Iraq loyal to Hussein, as long as he was free, there was a danger. Saddam's Iraq is nothing without Saddam or his sons. Al Qaeda, on the other hand, is capable of functioning quite well without bin Laden. Iraq had a highly centralized government, with everything micromanaged by Hussein. Without him, it would all collapse. Al Qaeda is decentralized, composed of cells operating independently. That's their greatest threat. Taking out bin Laden would not end the threat.

4. Cost vs Benefit: As noted in 3, the benefits of neutralizing Saddam Hussein are considerable, while the benefits of neutralizing bin Laden are small, there is also a difference in cost. Since there were so many people willing to sell out Hussein, the cost of tracking him down and arresting him were not that great. Also, because of terrain, it required no special training or the use of special forces tactics to get him. Bin Laden on the other hand, would be very difficult and costly to catch, while the benefits are small. It takes special training for the terrain, and the committment of forces would need to be huge to cover the vast area he could be in. So in the final analysis, it was better to save our resources to focus on the operations of the independent cells of al Qaeda, which would yield better results, rather than wasting resources going after the nominal head, which would accomplish little. The situation is the exact opposite in the case of Saddam Hussein.

I don't think there were a great many people In Iraq that were interested in helping Sadam escape whereas Bin Laden apparently has more popular support from the locals.

Politics. The United States Government CIA knows where he is. There are other( so called intelligence agencies) that know where he is also. It's politics. A game played by our government to gain control and bernefit themselves and their rich friends. This has been going on for many years. If they really wanted him dead he would be. Don't underestimate the power of the US government. They are the most powerful government on earth.

they probably do have him and they're just waiting for the next presidential elections to tell everyone...just watch TV around every major election, something big happens in the 'war on terror'...the latest was the UK terrorist threat from the planes that was uncovered right after lieberman lost his primary to an anti war candidate. and remember the last presidential election? a video tape of osama was released like 3 days before the election took place. we dont see too many osama video tapes released very often so you have to believe it is not a coincidence.

Because bin Laden is hiding in a place where troops do not have good access, whereas in Iraq coalition forces were all over and are free to check and lead. In the area of Pakistan where bin Laden hides, no troops, but Pakistani are allowed there. When Pakistani troops go in, they just shuttle bin Laden around right ahead of them. Too bad Pakistan doesn't allow U.S troops to go in there or we'd have caught the most corrupt and horrible person alive already
