Primary school uniform:

Yellow polo neck shirt
Brown jumper.
Grey shorts.

And when I got there, hardly anyone wore it because it was optional.

I still bear the emotional scars!!!!!!!!

When I was a kid in the mid-late 70s, I remember wearing Sears Toughskins. They were neon bright jeans came in red, green, royal blue, indigo (2 varieties, one was more of a black variety), brown, sky blue, wheat, various plaids. They had white contrast stitching, prominent leather patches over the back right rear pocket, very stiff reinforced knees, and flaired bell bottoms. No matter how often they were washed they would never fade or soften. They always fit funny. Mom loved them because they were reasonably priced and came with a guarantee they would never wear out, or you got a replacement pair for free. The worst was a pair of pink toughskins hand me down I had to wear, closely followed by a purple toughskins hand me down.

My school uniform.

I do actually think school uniforms are a good idea - they stop a lot of the competitive stupidness about designer clothes that promptly happened as soon as my school stopped having a uniform - but I hated school anyway and it has given me a life-long horror of navy blue.

I once wore a pair of jeans that were not low rise. That was back in the mid 90s or so when I was about 6.

When I was in an all-girls' school we had to wear a sort of short Grecian tunic in the gymnasium. Highly impracticable, we all had to tuck the skirt into our knickers. Oh, and the divided skirts we wore for playing hockey. We were all quite happy it was a one sex school. Imagine having your boyfriend see you dressed like that?

In high school I worked in a chain restaurant and had to wear a pink and orange dress. It was really ugly and had a matching hat!
