Simple as this may seem, get a good PEN that writes fast and comfortably, read the syllabus before class and the text assignment so you "know" the big picture teacher will "fill in" durin g lecture.
Remember: if it isn't important to the teacher- test-writer, he/she would not say it! Know what the topic will be before the lecture, PAY ATTENTION, and get a good pen.
ALso, don't let them "get cold"; review them and make them neater as soon as possible- this dramatically increases recall and test performance.

Take a stenography or shorthand class...or if you have a laptop, take a typing class. It will save you so much time...both at school and on your job.

write only imporatant things....don't write full sentenses....only keywords.....use short words where possible....u can also use some notes like 4=for,2=to/too,0=none,!=important,@=at and so on.....don't hesitate 2 use slang as well(if it's shorter)

short hand of couse....just write enough letters you can understand so that when you go back to study notes you would know how to read them.
