Start small.

Get a plant, or plant some lovely flowers; get a pet, a kitten, a puppy, a bird - whatever seems best to you. Meet the needs of what you choose, and see the benefits that you reap.

The unconditional love of animals, and their simple needs, so easily met, may restore you. Dogs and cats give so much love that it is hard to resist the joy that they offer.

Learn to give love.

Reach out. Take chances. Do small kindnesses for strangers. If you have nothing, what have you got to lose?

Allow yourself to be vulnerable. Each new person deserves their own fresh chance. Just because the last 100 people have screwed you, doesn't necessarily mean that the next one will.

Expect to be treated well. Insist upon it. If you learn to love yourself, you will expect others to love you, too. Treat yourself as you would your most treasured friend.

The ultimate paradox of love is that the more you work to give it away, the more it returns to you.

Focus on giving love. Don't worry about what you get back. That will follow.

This may sound trite, but it is the truest thing that I have learned: While there is life, there is hope. Live one second at a time if you have to, but do not give up.

The bad times do not last any longer than the good ones do. Look for GOOD, and you will find it.

Best of luck to you :-))

First you have to begin to respect and love yourself again. Someone who has been traumatised will find this very difficult, especially when there are feelings of guilt. For example if you have witnessed but survived a massacre, or terrorist attack. This may require counselling or specialist help.
Having regained your self-respect, then you can start on the road to feeling love for someone else. Sorry to be so serious, but this is a real problem.

I have a friend who is so numb inside after the trials in his life..but he is back to life now.

We just have to show them we CARE..UNDERSTAND their feelings...REACH OUT whenever they are in need.

In the long run..they will feel love and able to love back.

something dead is incapable of feeling love. If you desire to love, or be loved, its clear you aren't dead yet.
