I use tea tree oil, it's a natural antiseptic so will help prevent the minor infections that can happen in pores after shaving.
But better still, since even tea tree oil couldn't stop all my little red bumps, i've recently bought an epilator - it hurt like crazy the first time, but the hairs are weakened now and pluck out much more easily.
And don't forget to exfoliate regularly. I think the best thing is one of those shower gloves, i hardly get any ingrowing hairs at all.
Have fun finding out what suits you!

I take it that due to your age you haven't been doing this for that long. The normal rules are - a soak in the bath or steamy shower will open up your pores which makes it easier. Try a foam burst shower gel, keeps the foam longer. Use good blades not cheap ones. At least double blade plus a gel strip it ideal. But mainly your skin still isn't usest to it yet. Over time you will notice that you wont get rashes/bumps etc.

Use a fresh, clean disposable woman's razor each time you shave. Don't shave more than 3 times a week, as obviously you have v. delicate skin. (Yeah, I know...but I have friends who shave every day, obssessively!) After shaving, smooth some olive oil over your skin--just a few drops of oil on a cotton ball is enough. Olive oil contains antioxidants which soothe the irritation of shaving.
women's razors are more expensive than men's disposables but are made with our more delicate skin in mind.
When you shave under your arms, wait at least an hr. before applying deoderant, and find a deoderant without aluminum salts in it--I had to go to the healthfood store to find one.

Use hot water and soak your beard before-hand to soften up the hairs.
Use a good quality shaving foam designed for sensitive skin.
Ensure your razor is as sharp ascan be.
When you've finished shaving, instead of using after-shave lotion, rub in a little bit of Tea-Tree Oil.

I have found that the shaving cream with aloe for women, it comes in a can, helps alot. My 2 teenage daughters and myself all use it for our legs and underarms and it helps to to keep our legs soft and smooth, and our underarms are never rough and dry. Depending on your type of hair, you don't want to use the same razor more than a month and a half to 3 months

this is what i had to do here in the England make sure i use a double bladed razor on dry skin.then i used a good quality moisturiser and left it on for 1/2hour,then had a nice hot shower and them chicken skin rash never came on again.try it out and tell me what u think.coz' in the shower ur pores open up and the chicken skin comes on and when you send a razer on it,you are littrealy shaving the skin heads off, this turns into an itche feelin and it leaves marks like little red spots or brown one's.just try it without wetting ur skin or the razer ok.good luck.

fresh razor in the direction of hair growth.
yes, you will feel the hairs when you go the opposite way of hair growth , but no one can SEE the hairs.
it BITES i know. i have the same problem (with black hair) and in the bikini area i have 2-4 hairs comming from each follicle! yikes!
if there is someone in your town who sells 'adult toys' in a tupperwear atmosphere (i can't remember the name of the company) ask this person about 'coochy cream'. it's AWESOME for shaving. my brother stole mine and asked me to get him more. now it's his 'new' birthday present (kind of a gag gift - but he uses it and doesn't like anything else any more)

I know this will sound crazy but it works! I bought a after shave gel from AVON called no more bumps, It have lotion and alcohol in it, You can do it your self for pennies with your favorite body lotion and rubbing alcohol, it burns a little, but it is worth it after shaving rub alcolhol on the area follow with lotion, do this every day or 2 , it will keep the pores clear avoiding the bumps!

Try sugaring - it's the same principle as removing hair by wax, but instead a sticky mixture of sugar and lemon is used.
