Having British parents and knowing many people from all over the world I would suggest the following pronounciation;
Sa (with a soft - as in sorry)
mai (again another soft a)
re' would be; ray (as in a ray of light)

French, Baltic, Asian and several other european countries end all names with a soft a. I believe it is the feminine form of SAMIR.
