Just make sure what types of ports you have had on your PCI cards. Check so on the back of your PC (or the front probably) if it is Parallel port, you will need to buy a printer with such the port. The price should be around 30 quids in UK for ordinary function, such as high resolution colour printed ability.
If it is USB, it will be more easier to find out one on the market nowadays. There are many types and speed of USB. The price of a printer should be around 50 quids for all functions such as printing, scanning, faxing, digital camera printed, etc. Ask yourself what kind of printer do you need to have for.
You can check what ports you have exactly by having a look on a PC user manual, the medium sized booklet that you received when you bought the PC.
Hope that my information can help you : )

You can purchase any printer to go with your desktop. Prices start out around $30 for a cheap lexmark and go up to several hundred dollars for an all-in-one printer. Email me if you need information on what is a good printer.

Any printer will be compatible. I suggest buying a monochrome laser printer if you don't absolutely need a color printer. Color ink jet cartridges are a constant hassle to deal with. A good laser printer costs about $75. You can usually buy replacement cartridges for about $40 each from places like http://www.4inkjets.com

i think it's just as long as your pc has a USB port and so does the printer, they should be compatible with one another...just plug in the usb port that connects the printer to the computer, plug the printer into the wall, and run the installation disc.

compaq has been out of business for awhile now & you may have to search E-bay for used stuff, but mostly any printer will work with the right cords
