Most of the people who answered this dont know crap or are high on crack. The 999 the most beautiful bike haha maybe the 916/996/998 the 999 looks ugly as hell. A stock R1 will kill a stock 999 in any contest for way less than half the price. Put that extra $16,000 in a R1 and it would get even more ridiculous. Ducati wins races with a fully modified superbike not a production bike. If you had the money to rebuild it every 1000 miles and $75,000 for it the first place then yeah go for it.

The best for what? It all depends what you want in a motorcycle. The R1 is less expensive than the Ducatti and the R6 is less expensive than the R1. Maintenance on a Ducatti is much higher than the R1 & R6. The only way to tell is to ride all three and then decide for yourself.

Depends, if you like riding hard don't get a duke, it won't like it and will cost you an arm and a leg during the process, if you've never owned a 600 before go for the R6, the R1 will hurt you bad!. If you know what your doing 2 wheel wise get an R1 and hold on...........

R1 if you want balls out everywhere you go, R6 for something slightly tamer and the ducati if you really want one, dont buy the ducati on a whim you need to want to own one!

Ducati has very expensive upkeep. I would go with the R1 because most people want something bigger after they ride a 600 for a while

R1 cheaper than a ducatti, R6 comparable to cbr 600 lightning fast, book price second hand is 4000. ducatti 999R is one of the most beautiful bikes ever made i have no knowledge of this bike i couldnt even afford a test ride. i'd opt for the R6. i was on a ride out a few years ago on the blade, cruising at 90 odds were'nt in any hurry when out of nowhere an R1 blasted past me doing 150 easy was'nt in my mirrors when i checked a couple of seconds before. shitloads of power in that bike, R6 is the bike for you if your starting out on the bikes after you've learnt the roads on a 125 for a year or 2

easy one there mate, don't listen to anyone else. look at rossi valentino, 7 times motogp champion. he rides the R1. R6 is ok for a beginner but is still at least 50bhp slower than the R1. as for the duke...well, you don't see mr valentino on one of them do you?
