you need to shut off the call waiting before you connect, i don't remember what the numbers are like star 93 or something like that, call your telephone company provider and ask them what code you need to put in to stop call waiting for just one call at a time

You need a v.92 modem with modem on hold, and call waiting. Or you could purchase an emerson switchboard and use it with your call waiting. Or you could cancel call waiting while you are online.
