Most politicians either started off as lawyers or businesspeople. So to be a politician you should study Business Administration or Law. I recommend Law. Although it's tougher than Business Admin, it's more rewarding and it's easier to get into politics that way.
Apart from that, obviously you should join a political party, take part in party events and support their campaigns.

Oh, you are too young to think in that direction! Are you really serious? Politics, especially in India, has become a very dirty game. Whether male or female, a successful politician in India must come from a notorious background (crimes like robbery, contract killing, kidnapping etc.) with plenty of money and muscle power and the ability to make false and fiery speeches to influence and charm the audience. Honest and good politicians have no say and their political career ends up in misery and tragedy since the ballots are captured or their existence eliminated by their rivals. Judiciary too, in this country, is completely helpless and unable to stop entry of criminals into Assembly Houses and Parliament. No wonder, bandits and mafia dons are gracing the chairs of Assemblies, Parliament and other high public offices! Politics has become a very rewarding profession indeed and takes care of a few generations!
Are you attracted to this career because of the above reasons? Then forget about helping people and removing poverty by adopting this profession. If you are really serious in doing good work, be a powerful Police Officer, a Justice, an Administrative Officer or a Journalist but lie low till you are in a commanding position which may take sufficient time of your life. If you have determination and patience, best of luck to you!

Study the candidates in you local area. Try to find someone working on the local level. Maybe someone running for city council or county commission or something like that. That candidate will be newer in the process and their work, if elected, will be much closer to their constinuents.
Do not believe that politics is about helping. You will find, unfortunately, that most politicians end up in it for the power or money or both.

Politicians who are being debated in Harvard these days are Indian Icons who hail from the Eastern Part. You may consult the family and be an intern there to master the art.

If you don't vote, you choose to let others make decisions that affect your life. Stay up to date and vote because their are presidents, an props and many other things that will affect your life.
I live in cali and a new prop, Porp 86 (86prop86.com) is going to shut down my store, because of a huge tabacco tax, the tax is going to increase taxes ALOT!!! all so it can sort of go to HMOs, but when they start to explain....they trail off....its unfair...I try to tell people about it but the don't listen or don't vote...and it will affect them, and not only tabacco users...but this tax also allows hospitals to charge the general public ALOT OF TAXES, with no top out and little regualtion...
PLEASE Stay up to date and vote, because to many don't vote, an d it affects us all in one way or an other!
