When you copy, you can push the control and the C buttons, when you paste, you can push the control and the V buttons at the same time. I hope it works for you. It works most of the time for me.

Press the Ctrl and v keys together to paste.
An alternative is Shift and Insert.
A quick way to copy a selection is to use Ctrl and c or Ctrl and Insert.

It could be that you are trying to paste into a software application that doesn't accept the thing you have copied (ie its incompatible)

CNTL-V is the normal hotkey for Paste
