I would love to be a mother but i am single. Now i know people say you should be in love and a child needs a father but i don't believe that, as long as the child has the love of their family, they will never be alone. I am looking for a sperm donor and hopefully to be pregnant by december (going away in november). I have looked at hospital websites but they cost too much and i know that won't take me on.Is there a way that i can become pregnant without paying too much for a sperm donor. I am very specific as to what i would like my baby to look like aswell. Any suggestions?

I think some people here are being very negative towards you here.If you are financially stable and able to look after the child then go for it but there are several things you need to look into first !
Firstly there are new laws taking away the right to anonymity for donors, leaving them perhaps liable for child maintenance in the future;this has put many donors off.
If you can find a donor yourself and enter into a private agreement then that would be best !
I think a child with one loving parent can grow up balanced and happy, some children grow up with two parents who are non loving, alcoholic, drug users etc,so the fact that a child has only one parent is not at all bad.
My friend and his brother were raised by their mother after his father was killed in an accident when he was just a baby, they turned out as great guys,so having two parents is never guaranteed to any child.
If you are serious, think it through, think of childcare etc and go for it;at least you want the child, how many are unwanted pregnancies !
Good luck for the future !

Firstly you don't say where you are, not even which country, which could have a bearing on the legal aspects of such an arrangement. You also don't say if you would want or allow the biological father to see the child or indeed to support the child in any way. In the UK, if you were ever in need of state assistance, the Child Support Agency could force you to reveal the identity of the father or have your benefits reduced, even if you had agreed to keep the donor's identity a secret. It seems that you have a lot more to think about than the potential colour of your baby's eyes. I think you need to do a lot more research before embarking on this rather dangerous course.

good luck its hard work , try discussing this with your gp they may be able to point you in the right direction
i realise you have attracted alot of stupid comments which are uncalled for
do you know anyone who has done this before that you could get some advice from
it no different to adoption or being a surrogate mother
i would put an add out with you specific requirements and take it from there

I hope you've put some serious thought into this. As much as I love my son, there are times that it is very difficult being a Mom. I can't even imagine how hard it would be without a support system. If you've thought it through, then I wish you so much luck and sucess. Just be realistic with your expectations.

You need to sit down and think about this some more...the child will grow up and when he or she goes to school other children will question where their dad is, hope you have a valid explaination or than that you just wanted a sperm donor.

You really should think your lucky to even be able to get pregnant. i am unable to get pregnant..............i have been trying to become pregnant for 3 years and still have not been able to concieve.............. i do wish you luck and hope that it happens for you. but instead of focusing on what it loooks like to pray that it is healthy. i do think its a bit selfish to have specific ideas on what it looks like. i wouldnt care what mine looked like as long as it was healthy.

GOOD LUCK

Have you ever thought about having sex with the man you would like to father your baby? Most guys will do that for free! Or, you could put out an ad in the local newspaper and interview candidates, and if you didn't want to have sex with them you could ask that they deposit the specimin in a jar and inject it yourself. There are private sperm banks out there also, just google for them.

So will you put the baby up for adoption if you don't like the way it looks?

What a lucky child to have such a caring mother as you!!

Up to you love but I believe a child needs two loving parents to succeed in this world, as for knowing what your child should look like, get a grip! just be grateful if you do end up with a bun oven, millions of people dont get that choice, you should be more grateful.
