it could be lots of problems, check if drivers are working correctly and if you connected your speakers right,and make sure volume control isn't muted

Have you turned it off by accident. Click on the sound icon in the system tray. If its not there look in control panel, sounds, speech, audio advise etc to see. If is on then right click my computer and click properties, then click on the properties tab and go into device manager. If something is up with you sound you will see an orange circle with a black exclamation mark or something like that. If it's gone kaput reinstall the driver.

You need a new driver for your sound card. Look up the website for your card manufacturer and download the driver.

You may try to turn up the volume, if there is a volume control. You may also have speakers that are shot.

if windows - click on little speaker icon in tray - expand to show the various slide bars then ........check that the mute doesnt have a tick in it
