Mac Brush cleaner is actually the poorest brush cleaner I have ever used - I nearly tipped it all down the sink.
Baby shampoo is better than that - soap it up in a bowl and you can work it into th brush.
However, what I use is Isopropl Alchol - and it is what a lot of pros will use on their kit (though not too often, say once a week) - because it kills all bacteria, it really does clean with a few swipes, and it dries very quickly. Wash something with shampoo and you will be lucky if its throughly dry the next day.
You need a tiny amount on a kitchen towel, or small bowl, dip the brush in a swirl twice and let it dry. If you are using a kitchen towel, wipe the brush on it after u have put a few drops of Isopropl and wipe untill clean.
You can buy it from Screenface.com or from chemists - its a fairly cheap product.

Use MAC's Brush Cleanser if possible, if not dip the brush in makeup remover, wipe clean. Add a few drops of shampoo in a cup of water and swirl the brush in it. Rinse under running water. Lay brush on a piece of paper towel to dry. Never dry brushes standing in a cup, moisture can seep down the ferrule and loosen the bristles.

Fill a shallow bowl with warm water, add 3-5 drops of tea tree oil - this will disinfect the brush. Leave to soak in the water making sure that the brush ends are lying flat, then give it a gentle scrub before taking it out of water, shake and leave to try naturally.

Let it sit for a few hours in warm water with a little bit of your shampoo. Before using it let it air dry.
