Never considered it before; this is an interesting question!

I would say he was a socialist - communism is where all property, money etc is owned by the state not an individual. Socialism is where things are shared equally - it is between capitalism (which it can easily be said Robin Hood was not) and communism.

communist but his methods were too aggressive to be classed as a good communist.
He wanted more sharing of wealth. In a sense we are living in a communist state because of the high taxes on rich people.
A modernday robin hood would buy land and build cheap houses for the masses. If he built say 5 million houses the housing market would cool down and the prices would be better for the ordinary people like me.
What we need is a robin hood prime minister to bring this about.

No, he didn't want to do away with the ruling class; he just wanted to rob from them and redistribute wealth from them on a small scale.

Also, according to legend, he acknowledged Richard The Lionheart as the true king (and not his brother). Richard seemed more interested in expensive murderous crusades than his Angevin kingdom so he was hardly someone a communist would owe allegiance to.

In a way yes, except without the stricter dogmas attached to Communism with a BIG C.

Christianity is pretty darn close to communism. Treat others, share, be selfless.

Step outside the box, Communism is a good idea in THEORY. It just doesnt work in practice though, because people are selfish, and power corrupts.

Hmmmmm

Hmmm, more a socialist than a communist.

Although he was neither really, because he had huge respect for the crowned King and was trying to raise the money to get Richard released, so he was in fact a Monarchist. He didn't actually do a huge amount of re-distributing wealth, if you read the stories. He was trying to raise the money to get King Richard ransomed. And then get his royal pardon, and life would go on as before.

Yup. Monarchist.

The real Robin was more of a saxon rebel/outlaw who stole from the Norman overlords to give back taxes to the saxons.

Not much is known about him - The legend is that he was Lord Loxley, had his land stolen by corrupt officials, and rebelled against the same officals abusing their power against the ordinary people.
