People really need to know how to find the balance between speaking up when they need too and talking way too much when they shouldn't.

It helps to be outgoing & gregarious but yes one does need to learn to shut up. Shyness is an inherent trait and people can learn to work it to their advantage. Much depends on School Teachers - - - when they throw all their attention to the loud noisy types they often send the wrong signal to the quieter students. Perhaps it would be wise to give Teachers more instructions on interpersonal behavior. Peace.

i respect shyness. it doesnt disturb me. i actually like reaching out to shy people and try my best to make them comfortable around me. im in between: i can be very shy about something and i can be very bold about other things.
i can be quiet with a friend and be happy just enjoying each other's company. nothing fancy. or i can mix with loud people and still have fun.
teaching requires me to be a bit bolder-- i counter shyness by not focusing on anyone in particular. im in my element when i teach as i love sharing knowledge. i do the same when i act on stage-- i dont focus on a face but i take them in as a crowd. people mistake me for an outgoing person, though, given the way i lecture sometimes, cracking jokes and all.
but im not the type who can belt out a song on a dare. or take centerstage at any given time. people around me "expect" me to be more daring but i don't really find any reason to give in when i dont feel like it. doesnt make me too popular to some, but doesnt really bother me, though. i love being me.

"outgoing" is over-rated. I hate to be in the general population. The older I get, the more rude, obnoxious, intrusive, nosy, etc. people become. People who run at the mouth tells me that they are either lying, over-compensating or really scared of being "left out".

People must be able to find a balance.. Shy people need to learn to speak their mind and others need to learn to stop and listen.. Life doesn't revolve around them and sometimes they just need to be reminded of that.. I think regardless though there are always very nice people around us, we just need to get to know them..
