I think people are shaped by their environment, there's no such thing as being born gay, theres so much evil in the world today that makes people want to satisfy their cravens instead of suppressing those feelings that make them do things that are clearly WRONG. Example, the fact that I am entitled to my own home doesnt mean I should achieve this by killing or stealing does it? I'm sure everyone out there has had a curious thought about homosexuality, but the weak ones are the ones that actually take it a step further and participate in it and then get lost in evil. In the old days this evil decease was contained, meaning they use to do it behind closed doors, what worries me is the way they want to advertise it publicly these days and the way the media supports this, this will lead to the evil spreading even more in society. I am not homophobic because the plain truth is these brothers and sisters are victims themselves remember the Devil is very powerful and deceitful.

No, sexuality has all kinds of shades. Some people may be 90% straight while some others 0% straight. There are a lot of studies that suggest there are biological factors that take place into a person's sexual preference, but also environmental factors play a role.
One study confirmed that children of homosexual parents, adopted or conceived, tend to experiment with their sexuality more than children of straight parents. This is not to suggest that homosexual parents make gay kids, since once the children grow up they are statistically the same, in self report of sexual preference, but it does suggest that they are more open to experimenting and/or having such thoughts/feelings. This could mean that a person that is 85% straight with gay parents may be willing to entertain the thought of their 15% if it presents itself, whereas a person of straight parents may overlook it all together without suggesting it is being closeted.
The statistics about 10% gay people are false. The real numbers are around 3 to 4%. The studies on "gay animals" actually confirm the shades of sexual variation since there have been animals recorded to have engaged in homosexual acts but overall are straight. I think there was a study of some gay pandas that was made famous in the news and they weren't able to be split, but funny enough it was not reported that one of the gay pandas after a period of time went straight. Oh, and yes, there are gay-only animals, but they are far rare and much less than 10%.

How can anyone possible believe that being a gay man/woman is a choice? Who in their right mind would choose a lifestyle of ridicule and homophobic attacks? Of course for alot of people it is genetic, but for alot its environmental. Either way, your preferred sexual partner is not something that can be chosen. What i find the most amusing is why the small-minded people of society care so much. Sexual orientation is a minor part of a person's make-up. Why the obsession? Its quite natural to be attracted to the same sex - the only unnatural thing is the way in which gay people are ostracised because of it. Narrow minds have issues. How can to love another person be wrong, no matter what their sex or yours.

Attraction is much more complicated than just attraction to one sex or the other. It seems obvious it's not a matter of choice since so many gay people try so hard to "be normal" and fit in with what others want them to be. Take it a step further and look at the complicated situations where someone can be very much attracted to, or even deeply in love with, someone who simply cannot return their feelings. And look too at how very powerful physical attraction can be so transient and can simply evaporate overnight, especially once satisfied.
I think your basic sexual instincts are there all along, from a very young age. It's obvious that you can't just "choose" to stop preferring men or women, as anyone would know if they stepped outside their tiny minds and gave it a try!

I believe its no one's business, and not a big deal, what some one's sexuality is whether gay or straight. It shouldn't be made into a social or political issue. Live and let live.
As for boys who were always effeminate at school, and hung round with the girls; yes, they're all gay now. So I think its something apparent from a very early age.

No, I think it just happens overtime sometimes.. I think yes some people are born attractive to the same sex, but I have also talked to other people who are gay/lesbian who have said that one day they just woke up and were attracted to the same sex person.. Some people want to experiment but don't know how and then they finally do and they enjoy it too much to go back to the norm.. I believe people have the right to make that deciion for themselves and it shouldn't matter to any of us becasue it isn't directly affecting us in anyway.. Let others be happy..

There's a kid down the road, he's obviously gay. I've known him since he was a very small child. I knew another teenager who was clearly gay from an early age. So yes, I do think you can be born gay. However, I also think that some people are conditioned to being gay - abuse, curiousity, etc.

I do not know why I am sexually attracted to men, but I hate that I am---it would be SO much easier to be straight. I do not know any straight people who lament their sexuality [they may complain that they do not get enough or that what they get is not so good -- but that is true for gays too].
I was married to a woman for 33 years. I loved her and we had great sex. I have two sons -- both straight as arrows.
But during all that time, I was drawn to men and found men fascinatingly attractive in ways that no woman drew me.
While it would be easier and less tormenting not to love men and to find them overpoweringly alluring, I love the way I feel with men.
So, while I do not know the answer, I know that 'choice' is much too simple and that 'biology' fails as well.

In essence, yes. Although all fetuses carry the chromasomal info to develop as male or female they are all essentially female until they are flooded with certain hormones that trigger the development of the male characteristics. Some schools of thought believe that something 'goes wrong' at this point and the 'wiring' in the brain is affected resulting in a predisposition to gay behaviour. However, I also feel that sexuality is influenced by other, external factors such as childhood/ teenage experiences.
