Delibrate bad tackles.
Some player's careers were ended by serious injuries sustained through ill intentioned fouls.
That has to be the worst of its kind.

Spitting is repulsive anyway, regardless of whether its done on a football pitch or anywhere else.

Diving has always gone on, although not so much in British football where it has commonly been regarded as both weak and simply cheating. Every time there is a World Cup, we are reminded it still goes on all the time. But at least FIFA are trying to give referees the power to punish divers.

Deliberately harming another player has GOT to be the worst offence..its very hard to prove because it usually gets blamed on a clumsy or late tackle, but Im sure it happens sometimes.

the worst offence is using the elbow to deliberately maim an opponent. Diving has to be a close second and play acting up there too, all these offences and others ruin the professionalism of the game once loved by so many yet becoming a farce with inconsistencies, corruption and overpaid spoilt brats who act like little chidren as opposed to sports persons idolised by millions worldwide.

Taking a player out, more so from behind.
Then diving followed by spitting.
Trying to get another person sent of is unsporting.
Holding onto the other players shirt, using the elbow.
Jumping up for a header and using the other players body to gain height.
Inciting the crowd with religious beliefs.

For a player diving or anything aimed at deliberately gaining an unfair advantage for you team including provoking an opponent to violence.

For a referee making unfair decisions for finacial gain or other self interested purpose. On reflection I would probably count this as the very worst.

Without a doubt spitting at an opponent is repulsive and therefore the worst offence on a football pitch.

El Had Diouf has committed this despicable act on more than one occasion and has been defended by his respective managers. Maybe they should receive similar treatment and then we can watch their reaction. Spitters should be sine die from football.

Depends on whose point of view.

From the FA's, then we'd have to go for the longest ban... So it would have to be drug related. Remember Mr Ferdinand and his 8 months for forgetting a test?

From my personal point of view, I'd say diving, because it's something you can do nothing against. Physically retaliating towards a diver would only cause you more problems, remember Mr Robben getting shot by a tap by Mr Reina. A spitter can get his just desserts a while later.

An attack on the referee constitutes the biggest offence in football. depending on the gravity it could be anything frm six months to a life ban.
El Hadji Douf's spitting is just a habit, pure habit that he picked up from youth.

Being overly payed for doing a job most guys love doing anyway. It used to be a sport we could all go to and enjoy. Because of the greed of the professional footballer many working class folks cant afford to enjoy the luxury of regular spectatorship!
