I filled a grave in once and nearly did my back in. I hope he appreciated it. The first shovel load when it hit the coffin was awful. The rest was alright.

I think to many people are looking down on others just because of their job titles. Like trash pick up people. (my brother did it a while) His feelings would be so hurt, I told him it's honest work with honest pay. Ignore the people that are making fun of him and don't tell them you're going to work on an oil rig soon. Let them keep looking down their shoddy noses. I have a lot of respect for gravediggers, trash pick up service, street cleaners, waitresses, anyone that will do a good job no matter what the job title is, someone has to do it!

It is a job like all others, anything legit is OK and should never be dissed! But personally no as I dug too many trenches as an Infantryman in the Army so have had enough of big holes in the ground for this lifetime, thank you very much.

Yes, i have been one. Its got to be done by someone at present and really its just digging a hole in the ground. But! when you come to burying children it can get to you and may cause problems in the future.

If I needed a job badly enough, I would do anything. Even be a grave digger. Sounds like hard work.

I'd imagine it was quite a nice little job;
You've got your nice little cottage beside the cemetry,
working out in the open,
probably don't have to work too hard, clients aren't going to give you too much trouble etc..

Yes I would do it, I do not see that there is anything wrong in doing it , after all if you are going to be buried and no one dug the grave how you going to be buried?

I depends how much you would get paid. I suppose it would be a lonely job (!) and the social stigma could be a problem.
