help with dvd recording issue?

when recoring a tv show or such after a previously recorded show, how can i start from the point of the end of the previous show, rather than from the end point of the previous recording? for example: when i set to record a football game, i usually set it for 3 1/2 hrs, but the game ends 15 minutes before the record time is up. i want to start the next recording after the game, not after the full 3 1/2 hr segment. any help is appreciated

What model no of recorder do you have? In my recorder, I can stop playback at any time in a recording, and when I start recording again, it will write over the previous recording from that point. You might try that. Study the user manual to find out more. Of course, this only works with read/write media (DVD-RW or DVD+RW).
