Hi,

Can you please help me with the pronouns in the English language. I really get confused when I am trying to point an animal, pet whatever but the problem is that I dont know either I should point it with it, or with he, she. The problem gets bigger when I am watching TV and both of this words are being used in it...

Thanks in advance

If you look carefully , Your Question has the answer

- Animals in general as you see them in Wild , in a zoo or T.V are common nouns (That is you generalize them ) , so IT is used

- Some T.V programs follow a single "family" of animals , tring to learn them . In such cases , The animal is given a name and its gender is known . therefore you use He/She

- Your Pet is a very personal being and henceforth a Proper Noun . You give it a name and know its Gender . So , The most appropriate use is HE but saying IT is not wrong too .

U are supposed to use it for an animal accroding to grammar but if u know the gender u can use he or she. I prefer to use he or she cause it seems better to me.

When referring (pointing) to an animal, "it" is never wrong.

If you know that the animal is a male (boy), you may call it "he," but you don't have to. "It" is still correct, too.

Same if you know that it (see, I used "it") is a female (girl). You may call it "she," but "it" is also right.
