firstly, don't strain your eyes. If they feel tired stop what you're doing and let them rest. Since I was 15 I have been exercising my eyes - circling three times to the right, three times to the left, look up and down three times again, then left to right three times. Stretch your eyes (this uses the muscle behind the eyes) as far as they will comfortably go - keep your head still. And do it slowly and carefully. I am now approaching 50 and it's only in the last 12 months that I have felt my eyes deteriorate. A good cooling gel will also help, I have found Aloe vera to be best at this.

It never ceases to amaze me the strange things people do. If you are a young person and wear glasses for nearsightedness that are too strong, you will probably be able to see fine, but your eyes will be using a lot more accomidative power than usual and would probably cause eyestrain and headaches and might have trouble seeing things close up. It would be a similar situation to a farsighted person without glasses. Many people's vision continues to get worse, whether they wear glasses or not, until their 20's or even later, so they may think they are affecting it but probably aren't. Added: I suppose if for some reason you like the "coke bottle glases look" you could get some contacts with a really strong + prescription and then get some strong - prescription glasses that balance the effect of the contacts (and what ever degree of nearsightedness you already have). I don't know who is going to write the necessary prescriptions, as they won't match what you need. PS: If you think this will help you get dates, it probably won't. I saw your added coments: The reason people are nearsighted is because the eyeball is too long and/or the cornea is the wrong shape. Putting lenses (either correct or too strong) in front of your eye will not cause the eyeball or cornea to alter its shape to accommidate whatever lens happens to be there; on the other hand, it will not cause your eyes to return back to normal vision either. If too strong concave (-) lenses are worn, you will be using the accommidation power of your eyes more than usual and may cause headaches or eyestrain, but it is unlikely to lead to any permanent change in the shape of your eye. After wearing too strong concave lenses, you might get a temporary change where, if you switch back to the proper strength glasses, it might take a little while for your eyes to realize they don't need as much accommidation as before, but I don't think this will last very long. Because young people have very high ability for accommidation, they can actually wear concave lenses way stronger than they really need to reach 20/20 vision and still be able to see close up. But this does not mean their eye have undergone any permanent change. By the way, what is this website you refer to anyway?

1) Every 15 minutes or so look into the distance and focus on something far away for at least two minutes. Your eyes need a combination of views to keep the muscles healthy.
2) Proper lighting when indoors. Don't use the computer or watch TV in the dark and don't strain your eyes trying to read in dim light.
3) Wear sunglasses on cloudy days or when there is a glare. Your eyes can get "sunburned" and damaged.
4) Use a glare guard on your computer screen.

Eat carrots or any foods with Beta Carotine and Vitamin A.
It helps keep your vision good in day and night.
Also, be careful what you put in or near your eyes. Some cosmetic stuff is quite harmful if applied in or around your eyes. Wash off your eye makeup.
Don't look directly into the sun or bright lights.
Take care of your contacts and make sure they are good before letting them touch your eyes.
