Incredibly polite people. No really - even more polite than that. Chip 'n Dale polite. Hugh Grant, falling-all-over-themselves, apologizing for your mistakes polite. That level of politesse is utterly intoxicating to me.
Place names. Enchanting, charming, almost comically toffish British placenames like Witham-on-the-Hill or Clifton-upon-Teme or Hanley Broad Heath.
A bright sense of humour that you don't feel you've wasted your time.
Cheese. I love cheese so much I would marry it if it weren't a crime against nature.
History. There is soooo much history here, you trip over it at every turn.
The countryside is incredibly beautiful!
Castles,amazing!
I could go on forever!! Musn't forget the old "stiff upper lip"!!!
What do I hate? Immigration and a Labour Government!!!!!!!!!

I like the countryside and a couple of the cities and the sense of humour and the British outlook on life.
I hate most of our vile cities, the crippling and polluting congestion, also the way the government is taxing the life and backbone out of the UK. I also REALLY hate the way the country is a rip-off and that the is sod all afforable housing and all the wealthy gits snap the nice places up for second homes that the use once a fortnight.

What I hate about our country is our light weight government. This country has become far too politically correct, to our detriment.
Crap hospitals and health service
Crap prison sentences
A government that would rather waste money building large casino's.
The poor diet (that's why people are getting soooo chavvy!)
The total disregard for authority or bettering yourself legitimately
What I like. the weather believe it or not, OK I know average summers, but its lovely to snuggle up on a winters night. Our history and our beautiful countryside
Anyway... I'm off to get of this soap box very carefully.... its a long way down :)

I hate the football shirts that guys wear. I hate beer bellies. I hate the Fact that English people think that they rul the world, when they did, but then lost it all again. I am ashamed to be british, especially on holiday when there are drunken brawls. British people cannot behave when in other countries. It is so common.
Also typical english food is considered a joke and other countries laugh at our eating and drinking habits.
If you don;t drink alcohol in the U.K- you are looked upon as some kind of leper, yet they complain when they have liver damage. It makes me laugh. Weak.

A dark November day, an afternoon walk along the shore when its blowing a gale and just about to rain. Then going home to a light warm house, having a roast meal followed by spotted dick and custard, watching a film and then going to sleep in a nice warm bed. Bliss
What I dont like is having to pay 30% more than the rest of europe for everything, living in a tiny house which cost £300k, and being taxed during my working life and when I die too.

I like the fact that I live in a democracy. That is more than just voting in an election every so many years. We have a society that is full of organisations and groups that give individuals the chance to become involved in the way out society is run. From Parent Teacher Associations for your local school, be member of your local police authority. We can stand in elections if we choose. I know the addresses of my local councillors and MP if I want to contact them. An awful lot of work goes into trying to make community work, (It doesn't always work but the effort and goodwill is there).
I like the fact I can walk down the street and not worry about everyone carrying guns. I love our coastline and our countryside. Our castles, cathedrals, walled cities, rivers, cricket greens, country pubs, morris dancers, thatched roof cottages, ploughmans lunches, village fetes, steam rallys, the boat race, our weather, clifftops, cobbled streets, Black Cabs and London Busses, steam trains and countryside railway tracks, viaducts, cannals and lockside cottages. Our regenerated industrial mills, our industrial archeology, windmills, countryhomes and gardens, the sound of a summers day in the park, our musical ice cream vans, a nice cup of tea, scones with jam and fresh cream, morris dancers, may poles and so on and so on........

Great questions - reminds me why I love GB.
The people, the sense of belonging, the varied weather we have, diveristy (of people, places, cultures - the list is endless), the ethical way that we live, the strength of character of the country as a whole. Being a Londoner, also, I like what Ken Livingston is doing with the capital . As the US are struggling with their economy and disillusioned people, we stand tall and proud, despite the barriers put up by policies, house prices, taxes etc.
The things I hate, the government, notably the PM, for allowing external influences marr our own judgement and ethical standing on healthcare, taxes, war and so much more.
