Know what type of AGP or PCI cards your motherboard can accept. It's pointless to buy a card that is too new for your older board. 16x etc. Know your processor and ram. Also make sure you can connect your monitor (you may need an adaptor). Make sure you have the room for a card (empty slot and that a large card will fit in the case you have). Also - if you are running non-windowsXP some cards won't work with a different operating system (check before buying) - like Vista and current drivers for the card.

while paying for a photos card, bear in concepts: a million. What enlargement slot sort you have (on your case, PCI) 2. The watt output on your skill grant 3. If the cardboard demands wires to be immediately linked to it from the skill grant, make specific your skill grant has them 4. make specific all your drivers on your different hardware are up as much as now (motherboard, difficult force, etc.)

if you are using it to mainly paly games....make sure you have at least a good quality psu of 350 Watts (400 Watts or better recomended) 512MB of memory (DUAL Channel is always a plus but not necesary) 1GB of dual channel if you can swing it. you will need at least 256MB to run a graphics card. do you have proper air flow in the computer case you have now? if not...Plan ahead take a close look at youre case. hot graphics cards can get expensive.
